About Janssen Robinson

Over the past twenty years, Atlanta native Janssen Robinson has created a unique visual approach that has grown and developed within the community that he embraces. Drawing inspiration from the improvisation of Louis Armstrong, the optics of Paul Klee, the naturalism of Caravaggio, and the frenetic energy of Basquiat, Janssen’s NOW Paintings embrace visual immediacy in their initial creation while still respecting classical technique. The result is a signature style combining elements of impressionism, cubism, and abstraction developed in totality within the time constraints of a single event. Janssen’s work has been displayed in the New York Times Sunday Magazine and on the Atlanta Journal Constitution front page. He has been featured with his Now Paintings at the Atlanta Jazz Festival and on the Bravo and TV One networks. His body of work includes oil/acrylic paintings on canvas, murals, photography, sculptures and film. Janssen has also developed marketing materials and designs for companies, not-for-profits and entertainers. Janssen is currently responsible for all artistic/ video productions at a state government agency and has also worked as an art instructor, artist-in-residence and visual merchandiser.
